Did you know that there are many ways to support Chaverim?  Some won’t cost you any extra money.  Others may require some effort.  There’s something for everyone.  Some offer financial support, others offer different kinds of support.  Why not take a look below and see if you can help out.  If you have some other ideas, please feel free to contact Rick Oestreich , or the Chaverim office.

The first four are easy and cost nothing extra if you buy your groceries from Safeway, Bashas’, or Albertsons, or buy books from Amazon.com.  Do we have a deal for you!

Shop at Safeway?   Register your Club Card with Chaverim through the e-scrip program and you will be earning money for us in no time.  All you have to do is sign on to www.escrip.com, and click on the link "about the program".   Sign up and register your Safeway grocery card, Macy's card, or other eligible cards.  Pick "Congregation Chaverim", ID# 155295309.  If you have signed up previously you may need to have your user ID and password to sign on again.  The e-scrip program has to be renewed annually, so any prior organizations you supported can be replaced, or can even share the rewards.  Have questions?  Contact Bill Rosenzweig   Bill can help if you are having problems.  

Shop at Bashas’?  It’s even easier to register your Bashas’ Thank You card with Chaverim.  Just e-mail Rick Oestreich your 11 digit card number (beginning with the small 4).  Or, you can register on their website www.bashas.com/charity (our number is 29405).   Or, if you want a more personal experience, just tell the cashier you would like to link to Congregation Chaverim, number 29405.  Once you do this you will be set for the remainder off the program.  Tell your friends and family.  Anyone can help us.  This program runs through April of 2010.

Shop at Albertsons?  If you shop at Albertsons, than please pick up a tag to swipe at the checkout stand.  Ask Sheryl or Hilary for the Albertsons keychain tag.

Do you buy from amazon.com?  If so, you can help us a lot.  Chaverim earns a commission when you access Amazon.com via the link on our front page.  Give it a try!  Tell you friends and family about this also.  Chanukah is coming up, so nu, why not buy some gift cards!

Got empty ink jet cartridges?  Drop off your old ink jet cartridges at the Chaverim office.  We get credit at Office Depot to offset the cost of our office supply purchases.  We can also get some money from the e-scrip program for the extra ones not used at Office Depot.

Got old cell phones?  Drop off your old cell phones at the Chaverim office.  We are able to get rebates on some models from the e-scrip program.  

Have some spare time?  Spend some time helping at the 1st Rate 2nd Hand Thrift Store.  This is our local Jewish thrift store, begun by the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona.  They support a wide range of charitable organizations, not just Jewish ones.  The money earned over the year is returned as dividends to the organizations that the volunteers registered with on a pro-rata basis.  More hours worked means more money earned for your organization, hopefully Congregation Chaverim.  They are located very close to Chaverim, at 5252 E Speedway.  Why not check out their website?  http://1strate2ndhand.org/

Have some spare junk?  And if you don’t have the time to spare working at the 1st Rate 2nd Hand Thrift Store, why not donate your used items there?

Are you handy?  Help with maintenance and handy work around the synagogue.  

Do you eat out?  Purchase a “Tucson Enjoy” Coupon Book.   It costs only $20, which can easily be earned back by using just a few coupons.  Chaverim earns $10 for each book sold.  Visit the office to get yours.
